I love how the Amplified Bible puts 2 Cor 9:8

'God is able to make ALL grace (every favor and earthly blessing)
come to you in abundance,
so that you may ALWAYS
and under ALL CIRCUMSTANCES
and WHATEVER the need
be self-sufficient
[possessing enough to require no aid or support
and furnished in abundance

I like to think of the Law as God's way of giving us our dignity, it is designed to remove slave drivers from our lives and give us a standard by which to measure the good life.

Trying to follow the law will lead to sin however grace leads to righteous living.

Nice one brew love that take, blogged on this topic alot in the last year.
Religion is a deadly, subtle leaven that when left alone will work its way through every aspect of our relationship with God and leave us powerless.
Got this qoute John Osteen used to say, "Religion is like a vaccine. It gives you just enough to make you immune to the real thing."
And that’s exactly what happens. Religion looks honorable. It is always an accepted part of our culture. It isn’t too radical. It talks about God and Jesus. But in the end, it is a deadly, destructive bacteria that brings about self-destruction.

i like the thought but it makes me query the relevancy of the commandments now.
the question I ask is what relevance does it have towards me today?
Failure to interpret doctrine in light of the finished work of the cross has been the major cause for confusion and contradictory teachings.
we have "all missed the mark " but now we have a new mediator and a better covenant.
According to my mind

We Christians...

1) died to the Law. (Rom 7:4; Gal 2:19)

2) are not under the Law. (Gal 5:18; Rom 6:14)

3) are not supervised by the Law. (Gal 3:25)

4) are not perfected by the Law. (Gal 3:2-3)

5) shouldn’t even live by rules. (Col 2:20-23)

Now, what kind of relationship do we think we Christians should have with the Law?
God’s grace teaches us to live godly, upright lives free of immorality:
“For the grace of God… teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.” (Titus 2:11-12).

Someone who truly knows God, will out of love for Him, do what pleases Him. The believer’s life and character will replicate His presence in their life, because faith works by love and the believers life will be a reflection of that unfailing and life transforming love God has for us.

That brings up a very interesting discussion, maybe a post on hearing the voice of God is in order.

On the other hand, the pastor may or may not have heard God and that is up to much interpretation. Maybe God's message here was to the pastor. In fact, I am going to continue this story so we can decide what God might be up to here.

Personally I am cool with the 5 fold ministers sitting in their offices doing 5 fold stuff. What stuff? Well equipping the saints, thats what. If you think that you are a five fold minister then you better have a body of saints that are mobilized to preach the Gospel, feed the poor and be a friend to the drug dealers otherwise you are certainly abusing your office.

The fact of the matter is that pastor up on the hill should have had a person or people in his church that are fully equipped to get involved in the dealers life and effect change.

I wonder if the statement "The Word without works or fruit is religion." has any truth behind it?

Makes me wonder if the pastor really heard God tell him to go throw the guy out.

Many pastors/preachers/... are doing exactly that - sitting in their churches and actually "doing" nothing..

Where are the preachers and Christians today - sitting comfortably in their homes while the earth is going to the hot place. The devil has certainly tricked them into thinking that there is someone else to do the job.

Yes Reborn -
So could that mean that in fact when Jesus gave up his spirit - the Item (flesh) figure that was left behind was actually satan.
Which is then a major thing because when satan thought he had won by killing the King of Kings - he was so wrong and the disfigured thing on the cross was a public display of a beaten foe.
This makes it more important for me not to wear a crucifix but an empty cross which shows victory.
